Bou’s Hairdressing is back at Wilsonton Shopping Centre
10 APRIL 2019 –
Yvonne Bou-Samra is bringing her popular Bou’s for Men barber shop to Wilsonton Shopping Centre, as work continues on a $20 million makeover of the retail hub.
Ms Bou-Samra, who was born in Toowoomba and has been in the hairdressing industry for 50 years, operated Intershape Hair Design at Wilsonton for 43 years, before closing the doors in 2017.
Ms Bou-Samra says the major refurbishment of Wilsonton Shopping Centre led to her decision to open a new salon, which should start trading around mid-May.
“I started out at Wilsonton Shopping Centre as a teenager and have always had a soft spot for the centre and the loyal clients and friends I have made over the years working there,” she said.
“It was with a heavy heart I closed my previous store in Wilsonton just over a year ago, because I felt the centre had aged and was becoming a bit tired.
“Now that the new owners are bringing the centre back to life, I am very excited to become a part of the Wilsonton family again, and am looking forward to opening my new-look store in the coming weeks.
“I’m hoping to see lots of familiar faces as well as new ones as I really think the renovation improves the shopping experience for customers.”
The shopping centre upgrade is being undertaken by Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners, with work commencing in September last year and expected to reach completion in the coming months.
The renovation includes upgrades to the northern and western entry facades, additional signage, full internal and external repainting, new furniture and lighting, new landscaping and improvements to roofing and public amenities.
Consolidated Properties Group National Retail Leasing Manager Rob Clifton says limited tenancies remain available in the centre.
“We only have a handful of tenancies remaining as we approach the half way mark in our renovation program,” he said.
“We have already had plenty of positive feedback, and it’s great to see our investment is encouraging long-term retailers and shoppers to support their local centre.”
