Locals ‘knead’ to visit new Karalee Shopping Village bakeries
08 MAY 2019 –
Karalee Shopping Village will be the toast of the town as it welcomes a new bakery and patisserie at the end of the month, bringing locals fresh bread and sweet treats daily.
Karalee Village Bakehouse and Karalee Village Patisserie both specialise in authentic, store made goods. Bakehouse owner Van Nguyen says making good bread is all about sticking to traditions.
“Our bread is made the traditional way through a long course of fermentation, ensuring real flavour and no preservatives,” he said.
“For example, our sourdough is fermented for 24 hours and baked using an old family recipe. We plan to hold classes in future to teach people how to make sourdough at home.
“In addition to fresh bread, we will also be offering a variety of baked goods, including pies and pasties, as well as a range of sandwiches and Vietnamese street foods such as Banh Mi, rice paper rolls, spring rolls, and noodle salads.
“For those with a sweet tooth, we’ll have a huge range of cakes, tarts and slices available.
“We will be rotating our menu regularly to ensure customers have the opportunity to test out new flavours.
“We’ll also be helping out early risers with hot Merlo coffee served from 5am every day.”
Karalee Village Patisserie owner Leon Ly said his store would offer a range of fresh cakes, bread, pies and sausage rolls.
“We’re catering to customers looking for gourmet takeaway,” he said.
“We have reinvented the humble pie and sausage roll in to a fresh, tasty treat that is really satisfying.
“Cakes will be available for takeaway or can be custom made to suit any special occasions.”
Karalee Village Bakehouse opens this week, while Karalee Village Patisserie opens March 29.
The bakeries are the latest retailers to open in Karalee Shopping Village, which has undergone an $80 million expansion, resulting in an additional 6,214sqm of retail space, including a new Coles supermarket and 15 specialty stores.
The expansion was led by centre owners Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners, who are now leasing the final tenancies in the centre.
