Petbarn coming to Wilsonton Shopping Centre as long-term leases signed

Australia’s largest pet supply retailer Petbarn is coming to the Wilsonton Shopping Centre after owners Consolidated Properties Group & CVS Lane locked in the retail giant on a long-term lease together with Starbucks and 7-Eleven.

Consolidated Properties Group, which owns the Wilsonton centre with CVS Lane, started construction on the second stage of the $25 million redevelopment in August last year – adding 2163sq m of floorspace including a 7-Eleven service station and drive-through Starbucks as well as a 24-hour car wash facility.

Petbarn is the latest tenant announced for stage two, on the corner site at Bridge Street (Warrego Highway) and Richmond Drive and has taken 850sqm of space on an eight-year lease with a five-year option.

Both Starbucks (200sqm) and 7-Eleven (212sqm) have signed 12-year leases along with the carwash (200sqm).

7-Eleven and the carwash are both open with Starbucks and Petbarn to follow mid-year.

Consolidated Properties Group CEO and chairman Don O’Rorke said the long-term leases were a sign the retailers had confidence in the long-term vision for the Wilsonton Shopping Centre.

“When we acquired the Wilsonton in 2018 it was a bit dated, so we’ve made a significant investment to modernise the centre and bring to West Toowoomba popular retailers such as Petbarn, 7-Eleven and Starbucks,” Mr O’Rorke said.

“Petbarn will be taking the largest space by far in the second stage at 850sqm and will stock a wide  range of pet supplies, which is sure to be well received by our customers with Toowoomba home to plenty of animal lovers.”

Mr O’Rorke said Starbucks and Petbarn would open by mid-year with construction on stage two to finish at the same time.

He said interested parties were looking over the four remaining vacant tenancies with mechanical workshops, restaurants, general retailers, and gym operators all eyeing-off the final spaces.

“Upon completion, stage two will play host to a broad range of retailers and offerings from coffee through to fuel and potentially a restaurant and gym,” Mr O’Rorke said.

“This will ensure the Wilsonston, remains one of the leading shopping centres in Toowoomba with a compelling offering for shoppers.”

CPG and CVS Lane bought Wilsonton Shopping centre in 2018 and immediately launched a multi-million-dollar upgrade, which included an outdoor dining precinct and improvements to the mall and centre façade.

Wilsonton Shopping Centre is anchored by Coles and Woolworths and has more than 40 specialty stores.
