Ready, Set, Relay! Yeerongpilly Green hosts first annual Green Relay
Brisbanites are warming up for the city’s biggest Christmas running party, to be held at the new Yeerongpilly Green community on November 30.
Locals are encouraged to challenge friends and family to join them for the Green Relay, which includes a variety of events to suit all ages and fitness abilities.
The main event – a four hour relay – will circumnavigate a course between the riverside Ken Fletcher Park, the Queensland Tennis Centre and the Yeerongpilly Train station, with a junior dash and all ages Magic Mile race happening as well.
All the exercise will be capped off by an evening of family friendly park fun including food trucks and music from DJ MatttyFlo.
The event is being hosted by Yeerongpilly Green developer Consolidated Properties Group, which is ‘at the starter line’ for early works on the first stage of the new $850 million community, which includes a mix of apartments and terrace homes.
Consolidated Properties Group executive chairman Don O’Rorke says the Green Relay is a great opportunity for locals to familiarise themselves with Yeerongpilly Green.
“This is the first major event to be hosted at Yeerongpilly Green, which gives us an opportunity to activate the 1.8 hectares of green open space we have across our three parklands,” he said.
“Yeerongpilly Green and its surrounding area is already hugely popular with locals who like to keep fit and active by walking, running or cycling along the river which borders our community.
“As we enter the final stretch of 2019, we are making plans to start work on the first stage of apartments and terrace homes next year, to keep pace with demand for new property close to the city, in an urban village environment.”
