Wilsonton Shopping Centre to welcome 7 Eleven & Taco Bell

Wilsonton Shopping Centre, which has recently undergone a $20 million upgrade, will soon be home to a convenience centre featuring 7 Eleven, Taco Bell and Carwash Express.

Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners have this week lodged a development application for the $18.0 million second stage of the centre, to be located on the corner of Bridge Street and Richmond Drive.

Long term leases have been secured with 7 Eleven agreeing in principle to a 12 year lease with options and Taco Bell taking a 10 year lease with options.

Carwash Express will relocate from the existing Wilsonton Shopping Centre to the new precinct, which boasts a total floor area of 1,175m² alongside 75 new car parking spaces.

Consolidated Properties Group Executive Director of Retail, Craig O’Donnell says, pending approvals, construction could commence in early 2021.

“This planned new addition is a win for both locals and commuters. Locals will reap the benefit of about 75 construction jobs, along with a quality new fast food restaurant and further modern retail convenience offerings,” he said.

“This is Taco Bell’s first restaurant in Toowoomba, with the nearest restaurant in Ipswich.

“The 7 Eleven is proposed to be conveniently located on Bridge Street, linking through to Toowoomba Connection Road for those commuting across town and out of the city.

“In addition to construction jobs, approximately 120 ongoing positions are expected to be created once this precinct is complete and open for business, which should be around early 2022.”

Part of the development application proposes the removal of dilapidated, vacant buildings to the west of the existing centre.

“We will commence demolition and clearing of these buildings as soon as development approval is received, making way for a high profile and modern entry statement to Wilsonton Shopping Centre,” Mr O’Donnell said.

“The new convenience centre will be highly complementary to the existing centre and is expected to generate significantly increased retail trade in the shopping precinct.”
