Yeerongpilly Green gears up to revitalise Brisbane Riverloop

Brisbane City cyclists have welcomed moves by Consolidated Properties Group to make the Yeerongpilly Green precinct safer for cyclists during construction.

The new $850 million master-planned development is rapidly starting to take shape and will transform the existing site into one of Queensland’s most vibrant urban spaces.

Bicycle Queensland CEO Anne Savage commended Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners for their efforts to accommodate bike riders.

“Yeerongpilly Green is a great example of the Queensland Government and the private sector working together to deliver a world-leading outcome for our local community,” Ms Savage said.

“With a unique mix of parkland, shared paths, and river views, the site will revitalise one of Queensland’s most popular training circuits for cyclists, the iconic Brisbane River Loop.

“Better still, when complete, bike riders will be able to stop along the way and enjoy morning coffee or lunch in one of the precinct’s boutique coffee shops, bars and restaurants.

“Impressively, the developers have gone above and beyond to make the site safe for cyclists during construction, installing three-metre wide paths, safety mirrors, lines and signage.

“This project is best in class and we commend the project team for delivering world-leading solutions during construction.

“Our hope is that this project will be used by other organisations as a consultation model for future projects, demonstrating the power of open communication, direct dialogue, and early engagement.”

The new mixed-use lifestyle precinct is located adjacent to the Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennyson Reach and is set to become a landmark destination in Brisbane

Consolidated Properties Group Executive Chairman Don O’Rorke said the urban village development was an example of best-practice community consultation and master-planning.

“Yeerongpilly Green will be a unique blend of vital green space with cycle tracks, recreational facilities, and mixed-use residential and commercial facilities, directly linked to suburban and metro transport hubs.

“We were pleased to proactively consult with Bicycle Queensland and Bicycle User Groups in the local area to meet their needs during construction.

“We strongly believe that community consultation is one of the keys to successful project delivery and have therefore invested significant time and effort into listening to stakeholder feedback.”

Construction works commenced in January 2018 to realign King Arthur Terrace and construct a new internal network of road, cycle and pedestrian access. Yeerongpilly Green will include 1,200 residential apartments, boutique shopping and dining spaces, a supermarket and speciality stores, a boutique hotel, and both restoration and reuse of existing heritage buildings; developed over a 10-year period. Yeerongpilly Green will create more than 6,600 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and more than 1,000 long-term jobs in the commercial and retail precinct once completed. The precinct will attract sports enthusiasts and food, entertainment and cultural buffs.
