Yeerongpilly Green penthouse tops list for first buyers

In a show of strength at the top end of the market, a $1 million-plus penthouse was the first to be snapped up in the new $850 million Yeerongpilly Green community, dubbed south Brisbane’s newest cultural urban village.

The luxury penthouse, priced at $1.35 million, was secured by Heather and Charlie McKeown, along with their daughter Andrea, after a five year search for the perfect place to downsize.

The family will relocate from their home in Chelmer to the three bedroom plus media penthouse, which offers a luxurious 200sqm of living space, including a 50sqm balcony taking in stunning Brisbane River and city views.

The penthouse is a crowning jewel in the five-level Park House building, which comprises just 35 apartments, and is one of three precincts to be released in the first residential stage of Yeerongpilly Green.

The boutique Garden House building, featuring 56 apartments and penthouses across five levels, and Green Terraces, offering just 10 luxury residences, have also been released.

Yeerongpilly Green, situated only five kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, will ultimately feature 1,200 homes and apartments, surrounded by a retail village and commercial amenities, along with 1.8 hectares of green space and parklands.

Mrs McKeown said the family was looking forward to relocating from their large home on an 810sqm lot to the spacious north-facing penthouse, in the heart of the vibrant urban village.

“When we looked at everything Yeerongpilly Green had to offer, there is really nothing we would want for – it ticks all the boxes,” she said.

“We will have everything at our doorstep – shops, restaurants, parkland, a pool and a playground, which is perfect for when the grandkids come.

“We can live here without a car, which is a consideration for when I no longer want to drive, as I can still enjoy a great lifestyle and not feel shut in.  In the mean time, I love the security of being able to park underground and come up in the lift.

“It is an easy lifestyle, with no maintenance and yard, yet we can still enjoy everything available. It is going to be like being on holiday every day. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

Mrs McKeown said the layout of the apartment was ideal, with separation between the main and second bedroom, and both opening directly onto the generous north-facing balcony.

“I couldn’t find anywhere else that matched the apartment in terms of layout,” she said.

“It is only an eight minute drive from where we currently live, so we can still maintain our activities and friends in the area, and it is close to transport, including trains and buses.

“When we realised Yeerongpilly Green was being developed by Consolidated Properties Group and built by Hutchinson Builders – both of which have been around for a long time – we felt even more confident in our decision.”

Colliers International Director of Residential Andrew Scriven, who is marketing Yeerongpilly Green, said the McKeown’s were indicative of interest in the community, with demand from Brisbane buyers, particularly owner-occupiers and downsizers wanting to move to a new home where everything is at the doorstep.

In addition to the range of amenities being developed on site, Yeerongpilly Green is within walking distance of the Brisbane River, Yeerongpilly Train Station, Queensland Tennis Centre, Brisbane Golf Course and Ken Fletcher parklands.

“We are fielding interest from buyers who want to downsize from a larger home in the area, and recognise the limited opportunities to secure a new apartment or terrace home here, with Yeerongpilly Green the first new project in this pocket in almost a decade,” he said.

“The connectivity and proximity to the city also appeals to younger buyers, who want ease of access for work, while enjoying a village atmosphere in their home community on nights and weekends.

“We have also had fantastic feedback about the apartment design, created to bring homegrown Queensland character with light-filled spaces, an open-plan to capture cross breezes and generous balconies.

“Residents will also be able to relax and unwind in their own oasis at Yeerongpilly Green, including a pool, lounge and outdoor kitchen and dining hub, along with lush landscaping to form a shaded and pedestrian friendly community.”

Construction is anticipated to commence on the first residential stage and neighbourhood retail village in 2020, with the first residents expected to make the move as early as 2021.

One, two and three bedroom apartments and terrace homes are now available at Yeerongpilly Green, priced from $450,000 to $1.35 million.
